I can't believe I've been in New Zealand for an entire month! Time flies.

So, it turns out that I did not do any of the things I said I'd do last post! Instead I was a bit under the weather (like everyone else here) and did a lot of nothing this weekend. That also means I have no pictures. Sorry if this blog isn't all you were dreaming it would be! To make up for it, I'm going to try to engage you with personal shout outs.

Random Tidbits:

I love how Game of Thrones has a worldwide cult following! Even if I have to watch it on Monday afternoons (when it's Sunday night in the States.) (@Tess, I still use your HBO GO account, but HBO only works in the States so that was a sad realization! Hope you're doing well :))

Chinese restaurants here are not what you'd think. They sell sandwiches ("roasts") and burgers! So strange. Missing me some P.F. Chang's or Pei Wei (@Tay, remember when you were addicted? Or are you still?) or Panda Express (@Joy, pretty sure you sat in the booth!) at this point! Or even Jing's! (@Dennis, it's honestly underrated, although def not as great as legit Chinese food from legit China.)

The dining hall mac n' cheese is a tragedy and tastes like milky potatoes. @Becky, can you PLEAAAAASE make homemade mac n' cheese with the crumbly top when I get home?! Or maybe when you visit?!

A lot of people don't go to many (read: any) lectures because each lecture is recorded on Panopto, a video/audio streaming service. Here's an idea, UoW: Why not simply stop recording your lectures? I'm sure hordes of students would show up! (Naw, I'm sure it's useful when you're sick and can't make it to class.)

I finally tried Whittaker's chocolate and it is creamy deliciousness. I won't be able to stomach Hershey's anymore. I also found out that they sell Tim Tams in Target back home!!! What a glorious discovery! (IDK why I'm writing this way – probably because I've barely left my room all day oops! Hope I don't scare y'all away!)

My PR class is basically review to me, which is a nice break from philosophy (@Brian/Isaac/Izzy) and Maori (@Chenay & @Liz), where I have no clue what's happening 99% of the time.

On a late-night Macca's run (McDonald's) a bunch of us witnessed a house that was cut in half being moved through the narrow streets and roundabouts of Hamilton, which was a funny sight. Even better, the people had picture frames up and toilet paper still on the roll!

A soda is called a fizzy drink here. A water bottle is a drink bottle. Lemonade is carbonated, so Sprite is considered lemonade here. They don't have root beer or Dr. Pepper readily available here (@Kenzie & Abby tbt to the TW days of drinking like 5 per ep)! Qué triste. Pineapple lumps coated in chocolate are sort of gross but kind of good when you're desperate for something chewy. Sorta tastes like a Laffy Taffy. @Justice, came up with that description, I think.

Being "chopped", "trollied", "written", or "coma-ed out" are all words to describe intoxication (thanks @Sourab for always saying these.)

Is America the only place where the last letter of the alphabet is pronounced "zee" as opposed to here where they say it "zed"?! (Thank you @Alex/Cori/Olivia/etc for teaching me stuff like this!)

I tried Marmite – EW. Never again. (@Rachael, is that what vegemite is like?! Cuz no.)

I like Lamingtons! It's "an Australian cake, made from squares of sponge cake coated in an outer layer of chocolate sauce and rolled in desiccated coconut" according to Google. Kinda gave me chocolate coconut donut vibes. Donuts just makes me think of @Lou, of course. Should I become a FAAAAARMER while I'm here in NZ? Lololol.

We have a block formal dinner and a Student Village ball coming up, so those are a couple of events to look forward too! Thanks @Rebecca for the romper! I bought a pink (obvi) dress for the ball that's way too springy for the winter, but it was on sale for like $15 USD so I pulled the trigger on it. I'm pretty pale so I might have to cave and get self-tanner to @Alex and @Courtney's amusement.

BTW, @Ellen, my wind chime is on my window! :)

(I use parentheses too much.)

@Emily – if you haven't read my blog yet, you're officially not my younger sister anymore!¡!¡! Come to think of it, @Rachel, you better be reading too! (@Pags did you have to bribe people to read your blog??)

What do you guys want to know about NZ? Am I missing anything major? Ask away, while I go and devour more Whittaker's!

Sorry if I didn't mention you and you wanted to be mentioned. It's not personal, I swear, I just had to end the post at some point! <3

Next Up: Adventurin' in Auckland (@Drew, any must-dos?)! Living out the dream of going on a wine tour on an island! Seeing my friend @Corina from ASU! (Don't fret, I will do the things I said I'd do eventually!) Sorry @Blake for missing your bday pub crawl.
