Hi everyone, thanks for tuning in!
After a busy and fun midsemester break, I've been getting back into my normal routine. We're finally receiving some grades back and I've done surprisingly better on most assignments than I thought! My online Shakespeare film class started so that's been giving me heaps of work.
Speaking of movies, I watched Taika Waititi's Hunt for the Wilderpeople, a Kiwi classic, and it was funny! I still need to see Boy, also by Waititi. I watched the new Netflix Death Note and liked it. Also, I finally saw all of Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind, which I enjoyed! And I had to watch a nearly 3-hour film adaptation of Titus Andronicus for Shakespeare, so lots of movies this week!
Honestly I wasn't super into the Game of Thrones season finale but I'm bummed we're going to have to wait so long for the final season! Getting into Rick and Morty (despite my initial doubts) thanks to Justice.
Because my room is on the ground level, people sometimes come knocking on my window asking to let them in or just to scare me. It's hilarious but also gives me quite a fright!
Discovered a new Kiwi term: scroggin! It means trail mix.
We had a block meeting and also celebrated Tim's birthday, a guy who also lives in block one. The goal of the night was to "coma" and the hastag #coma4Tim was going around so I'll let you come to your own conclusions on that event...
We did a block thing called "warm fuzznuggets" which basically entailed writing anonymous compliments on a piece of paper stuck to their door. My favorite one I received was definitely "Love your skin it's so fricken shiny haha, lovely addition to the block!" LOL.
Both weekends involved copious drinking (as usual – sorry Joe-b!) and on Saturday Chenay and I went to a flat party for all of 10 seconds before coming back and eating pasta. She also gave me some Reese's, which I haven't had in TWO WHOLE MONTHS so that was a great time!
On Sunday I blackmailed Isaac into driving me, Chenay, and Lucia to Bridal Veil Falls and Raglan and both were super fun! I was so glad to be back outdoors enjoying nature. The falls were majestic and the black sand at Raglan was so cool! I'm going to attempt to smuggle some back into the States.
Raglan is a cute beach town on the west coast of NZ. There were so many dogs on the beach and even two horseback riders!! Plus a bunch of surfers. It ended up being a nice day out too, so that was great!
Next Up: Auckland PR trip on Wednesday! (Missing the Valedictory Dinner) Glowworm caves (I know I say this literally every week IT WILL HAPPEN EVENTUALLY!), more nature-y things!
